Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever. Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.

Product care

Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox, as things happen, not always the way you like it, not always in the preferred order.

Product details

Made to order in our own workshop in Jodhpur — we don't buy in finished stock and resell it.
Solid materials throughout: hardwood seasoned to 8–12% moisture, full-grain leather, and solid iron or brass. No veneer, no particle board, no bonded leather, no plated substitutes.
Load-bearing connections are jointed or welded, never held by a screw alone.
Wood moves, leather softens and metal patinas — these materials change with age rather than wear out. That's what you're buying.
Free shipping anywhere in India, assembled in your room, typically four weeks from order. Custom sizes and finishes on request: call +91 91 66 76 0900.

Description

This sheesham wood and cane armchair is made from solid sheesham wood with hand-woven cane panels, measuring 78 cm across. The finish is teak finish. It arrives fully assembled.

Why choose this sheesham wood and cane armchair

  • Hand-woven natural cane panels, woven onto the frame at the workshop rather than fitted as a pre-made sheet.
  • Arrives fully assembled, so there is nothing to build on delivery day.
  • Teak Finish finish on solid sheesham, tinted so the grain stays visible.
  • 15 kg of material — substantial enough to stay put in use.

Frequently asked questions

How long does natural cane last?
Hand-woven cane lasts for years if kept out of direct sun and very dry heat, both of which make the fibre brittle. Dust with a soft brush rather than a cloth, and avoid resting sharp-edged objects on the weave.

Can I order this in a different size or finish?
Yes. Furnliv manufactures in Jodhpur, so size, finish and configuration can all be altered on a made-to-order basis. Contact us with your requirement.

About sheesham wood

Sheesham is among the densest hardwoods worked in Rajasthan. It takes a finish evenly and holds joinery well, which is why it has been the default choice for cabinetmakers here for generations. The grain is pronounced and shifts in tone where heartwood meets sapwood.

About solid wood

No two boards are alike. Expect variation in tone across a single piece, individual grain patterns, occasional small knots and fine surface checks. These are characteristics of solid timber rather than faults, and they are why a solid wood piece looks different from a veneered one. Colour may deepen slightly over the first year as the wood settles.

Caring for natural cane

Cane is a woven natural fibre and behaves differently from the timber around it. Dust it with a soft brush rather than a cloth, which can snag the weave. Keep it out of direct sun, which makes cane brittle, and away from very dry heat. If the weave slackens slightly in a dry season, a light mist of water and air-drying usually tightens it again.

Caring for your Furnliv piece

Dust with a dry or barely damp soft cloth and wipe spills promptly. Avoid ammonia, bleach, silicone sprays and aerosol polish, all of which dull a wood finish over time. Keep the piece out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from radiators or heat vents, since sustained dry heat can cause timber to shrink. Use trivets under hot dishes and coasters under glasses.

Why choose Furnliv

Furnliv manufactures its own furniture at its workshop in Tanavada Industrial Area, Jodhpur. Buying factory-direct means no importer or reseller margin between the workshop and your home, and because we build each piece ourselves, size, finish and configuration can be adjusted on a made-to-order basis. We ship across India.

Get bulk quote for Projects

Bulk orders don’t fit neatly into a shopping cart. Custom sizes, staged delivery, GST paperwork, a price that reflects the volume — that’s a conversation, and it starts here.

  • Offices — desks, chairs and storage that survive daily use
  • Cafés and restaurants — seating built for turnover, not showrooms
  • Hotels and stays — consistent finishes across every room
  • Builders and developers — furnish handover-ready units at scale
  • Interior designers — trade pricing and custom specs on request

Made on our floor

Four weeks, and most of that is waiting for wood to be ready.

01 · TIMBER

Bought as planks, not boards

Sheesham from Jodhpur's timber market, a few kilometres away. We reject unstable grain and excessive sapwood before it enters the yard.

02 · SEASONING

Dried to 8–12% before cutting

This is the step that gets skipped when furniture is made fast. Under-seasoned wood keeps drying after it becomes a table, and that's why cheap solid wood splits in its first summer.

03 · JOINERY

Jointed, not screwed

Mortise-and-tenon where the load is. That's what keeps this table rigid after a decade of people leaning on it.

04 · FINISH & CHECK

Assembled before it's crated

Progressive grits, then your chosen finish. Every table is built up and checked on the floor before packing, then assembled again at your door.

Made in our workshop. Sold direct to your home.

Furnliv is a working furniture workshop in Tanavada Industrial Area, Jodhpur. We are not a brand that designs in one city and places orders in another — we buy the raw material, make the piece, and ship it to you ourselves. Everything on this site was built on our floor.

Why Jodhpur

Buy solid wood furniture in Delhi, Bangalore or Mumbai and there's a fair chance it was made within a few kilometres of us. The trade here grew out of Rajasthani architecture — carved jharokha window frames, heavy studded doors, latticed screens — work that demanded serious joinery and kept those skills in families for generations. Around it grew everything a maker needs within a short drive: timber merchants, seasoning yards, polishers, upholsterers, iron and brass hardware suppliers. A karigar here who has cut mortise-and-tenon joints for twenty years is unremarkable.

What we mean by solid

Every material we use is what it claims to be. Hardwood is solid throughout — Sheesham, Acacia or Mango, seasoned to 8–12% moisture content before a single board is cut. That drying step is the one that gets skipped when furniture is made fast, and it's why cheap solid wood splits in its first summer. Leather is full-grain, not bonded or corrected. Metal is solid iron or brass, not plated tube. There is no veneer, no particle board and no MDF with a wood-look laminate anywhere in what we make.

Load-bearing connections are jointed or welded. Nothing structural depends on a screw alone.

Made after you order

Because we build to order rather than shipping from a warehouse, changes are ordinary. A different length, a different height, a different finish, a different leather — these are conversations, not special orders. Most cost nothing; the rest are priced honestly before you commit. Tell us your room measurements and we'll tell you what actually fits, including when the answer is a smaller piece than the one you were looking at.

One margin instead of four

Furniture sold through a showroom carries a markup from the wholesaler, then the brand, then the retailer, on top of the workshop's price. Each of those is earned by someone doing real work — they simply accumulate. Ours goes from our floor to your home in one step. Nothing was compromised to get there; there are just fewer people to pay.

The trade-off, stated plainly

Buying from a workshop is slower. Delivery is typically four weeks rather than four days, and you can't walk into a showroom in your city and sit on the exact piece before you buy. For something you intend to keep for twenty years, we think that's a fair exchange. Shipping is free anywhere in India, and every piece is assembled in your room.

If you're in Jodhpur, the workshop is open. There is sawdust and it is loud, but you're welcome to walk the floor and watch your furniture being made. Call +91 91 66 76 0900.
