Measuring before you buy

Storage is the category people most often get wrong by a few centimetres. Measure the wall, then measure the route the piece has to travel to reach it — doorways, stair turns and lift depths defeat more wardrobes than walls do. A 60 cm deep wardrobe will not turn a 90 cm landing.

Allow clearance for the doors themselves. A hinged wardrobe door needs its own width again in front of it; if the room cannot spare that, sliding doors are the honest answer even though they cost you access to half the interior at any one time.

What separates good carcass construction

Look at the back panel and the drawer bottoms. Cheap storage uses thin board pinned into a rebate, which sags under load within a couple of years. Ours are solid or thick ply, housed into grooves so the weight transfers into the frame rather than the fixings.

Drawers should run on wooden runners or full-extension metal slides, and should stop before they fall out. Open one in a showroom, load it with your hand, and see whether it still runs square.

Yes. Larger storage pieces are assembled in the room you want them in, and we take the packaging away.

Will a wardrobe need fixing to the wall?

Tall pieces ship with anti-tip brackets and our team fits them on delivery. This matters in any home with children.

How should I care for solid wood storage?
